Parenting Courses
Each of us has our own experience with our children that may be very different from someone else’s experience.
Oftentimes parents read research findings or social media posts and say, “Well, my child doesn’t do that” or “We tried that strategy with our child and it didn’t work.” Therefore, they might conclude that the information is not relevant or applicable. While we know each child is an individual and that children differ significantly from one another in their temperaments, personalities, behavior, research helps us understand the range of this variation. Having knowledge of how children within a given age span typically develop and learn equips parents to guide their children and create a rich learning environment for skill building at home.
My goal for offering the Parenting Master Course is to provide you with an overview of development during each stage of childhood and an understanding of how to support your child’s needs.
When you have sufficient knowledge about what behaviour is within the range of “average”, then you know you don’t have to worry too much; other children have gone through this too. On the other hand, it may also be helpful know if your child’s behavior falls outside the range of “average” so that as a parent, you can know how to respond or seek out help to understand why your child is behaving this way. This is not to say that every child must be “typical” or “average”, but it does help to know what the range is so that you have a context for understanding your child.
The Master Course also includes information about stages of parenting and how to adapt your parenting style for your child’s developmental stage.
